Master Hardware Engineering

Imagine designing a piano using celery or creating custom digital training program. Now, envision playing video games using just your body, a bit of wire and your own imagination. In our hardware engineering program, students engineer their own customized video game controllers using a Makey Makey device and materials that can be found in just about any kitchen. Through application of circuitry, acoustical engineering and video game design, students discover new ways to interact with technology, all while creating unique designs in a fun collaborative environment

Master Software Engineering

What’s more fun that playing an interactive video game? Writing one! Video sensing allows students to design and program their own video games and then test them by interacting with the program via webcam. In this Scratch program, students work together to create their own games, art, and musical instruments while exploring coding foundations. Master Minecraft EDU

This program will immerse students in the expansive world of Minecraft, and will challenge student’s ingenuity and problem solving skills as they navigate through several engineering challenges. Students will learn how to use teamwork and manage resources like an engineer in the real world. Building in Minecraft allows students to experiment with designs and materials, all without the risks associated with building structures in reality.

Master 3D printing and Design

3-D printers are one of the most widely applicable and fun inventions on the tech scene today! In 3-D Printing: Superheroes to The Rescue, we will explore the basic concepts of 3-D printing and computer-aided design, or CAD, to design and create our very own 3-D printed superhero! Students will take their hand drawn design and learn how to extrude it into a 3-D model that can then be modified to be printed in 3-D.

Master Robotics Engineering

During the Robotics 101 program, students will learn the basics of designing, programming, and controlling a fully functional robot. Using LEGO® MINDSTORMS®, mathematical concepts, and engineering principles students will brainstorm, plan, test, and modify sequences of instructions to accomplish a given task. Students will also learn the sequence of communication between the robot, and the programmer by collecting and analyzing data using the robot's sensors.

Master Mechanical Engineering

During the Mechanical Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine a variety of machines and mechanical systems. Students learn basics of fluid mechanics, simple machines, and other design and engineering concepts while constructing roller coasters, egg-drop vehicles, and an incredibly fast air powered dragster they keep at the end of the course.

Master Marine Engineering

During the Marine Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine several types of marine based devices and vehicles. Students construct working prototypes that teach and reinforce the concepts of above water transportation, underwater exploration, and harnessing the power of water. They gain exposure to careers in naval, ocean, and marine engineering as well as naval architecture.

Master Industrial Engineering

During the Industrial Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine efficient systems for production. Students explore foundational concepts of industrial engineering such as: assembly lines, safety, stamping, sorting and distributing materials. Students see just how fun and creative industrial engineering can be as they create their own ice cream factory and 3-D copies of designs.

Master Environmental Engineering

During the Environmental Engineering classes, our most experienced engineering students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine basic solutions related to alternative energy and environmental issues. They are challenged to discover alternative desalination methods to purify water, design sails for a model boat sailing on an incline against a headwind, and develop solutions to clean up an oil spill with time and material limitations.

Master Electronic Game Design

During the Electronic Game Design: Invader Defense classes, students will use Multimedia Fusion 2® to create their own video game. Whether students wish to fire marshmallows or missiles, they build a complete video game from start to finish. They program characters to survive a wave of enemy attacks in order to reach the next level. At the end of the class, students take home a copy of the game they create.

Master Civil Engineering

During the Civil Engineering classes, our most experienced engineering students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine a balsawood bridge designed to withstand the greatest force. They examine several different types of bridge designs and discover how the forces of tension, compression, bending, torsion, and shear are distributed throughout their structures. Students at this level are challenged to construct bridges and to design the tallest free-standing tower all while using a limited supply of materials.

Master Electrical Engineering

During the Electrical Engineering classes, our most experienced engineering students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine electronics and circuits. Students learn about circuit schematics and circuit theory. They experiment with Snap Circuits® to discover the capabilities of major electronic components. In addition, students build their own complex flashlights and explore the world of magnetic energy by designing their own Magnetic Levitation vehicle.

Master Chemical Engineering

During the Chemical Engineering classes, students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine various mixtures and solutions with different chemical properties. They manipulate the speed of chemical reactions, synthesize their own rocket fuel, and investigate the secrets of polymers.

Master Aerospace Engineering

During the Aerospace Engineering classes, our most experienced engineering students use the Engineering Design Process to design, create, test, and refine a variety of flying machines. They construct a rocket designed to land within a target zone, design a parachute with limited materials that will make the slowest descent possible, and create a hot air balloon model that actually takes flight with weight attached!
